Lists of shortcut keys to make your computing interesting
As a computer literate,
you do not need someone to tell you how easy it is with shortcut keys. Using
shortcut keys while typing make work faster. So I will be showing you some of
the most important shortcut keys.
But before we move on, I
recommend you go for the standard keyboard because it has more keys compared to
other ones.
Below is the list of
shortcut keys;
Ctrl + R: ctrl + r key are used to refresh page.
Ctrl stands for “CONTROL” and “R” for refresh. On Microsoft word, it is use for
text aligning to the right hand corner.
Ctrl + C: the ctrl + c is key is for text copying to
another place. It is the must that you highlight the text before pressing the
ctrl + c key.
Ctrl + V: this key combination is used for pasting
already copied text from one location to another.
Ctrl + S: these set of keys are used for saving
document. You can also save a web page using these same keys.

Shift + 2: The shift plus 2 will give you the @ sign.
So whenever you want to make use of the @ sign while typing/writing, press the
“SHIFT” key plus the 2 on the keyboard.
Shift + 3: These keys produce the # sign if you’ve
where you needed the # sign, just press “SHIFT + 3” and you will have it.
Ctrl + =: By pressing the keys set of “CONTROL PUS
=” you automatically adjust font size to a smaller size.
Shift and =: The “shift and =” keys gives you the plus
+ sign.
Note: all the keys you’ve read through to this
point, make you press and hold the control key before pressing the other key.
Example;
Press and hold the
CONTROL key and press the other combination key.
If you ever feel like
open the “run” small window for folder, document or program search for easy
access, then press windows key plus r key to have it open.
Control + A: these keys are used for highlighting a
text or image on a document. It can also use for highlighting web page content.
Control + Z: these set of keys are used for requesting
undo the last action that was taken.
Control + Y: this gives you the redo function of the
recent undone action.

Windows + D: this will minimize all active windows at
once, and once you press it again, all will be maximize.
Windows key + L: these keys combination quickly lock your computer screen.
WINDOWS + E: the windows plus d keys combination
enable your computer to open default file folder. With these keys you can
easily navigate your file folder area.
WINDOWS + R: windows plus r will give you the function to open the “RUN” display area, this run pop up
allow you to access other places like “command
prompt” and others. Once the “RUN”
area is opened, you can easily type in the name of the environment you want to
access and it will be open.
WINDOWS + T: press holding down the windows key and
repeatedly pressing the “T” key
makes it easily for you to make selection among the pinned applications in task
bar.
WINDOWS + I: when you press the windows key, hold it down and press the “I “ key, your computer settings area will open, giving you the access to set your computer time or even the internet connection. All features that is in the settings area will be accessible by just pressing windows plus I key.
WINDOWS + PrtScr: before we talk about what these keys combination
does, we need to first know what the second after the windows key mean. The PRT
is a shot form of the word print and SCR is the shot form of screen. So what
these keys combination does is to take a screenshot whatever your computer is
on. WINDOWS + PrtScr gives you screenshot
of whatever thing been display on your screen.
WINDOWS + F1: we
all are aware that the F1 key is mostly use in instructing the computer to boot
normally, but apart from that if you use the keys combination of WINDOWS + F1
it will open windows help area using your computer default browser. It will
automatically open up Bing/Microsoft page with key words like “HOW TO GET HELP
IN WINDOWS” in the search bar.
Note: use this feature only if you want to find help regarding windows system.
ALT + F4: the alt is an abbreviation of alternative
or alternation. The alt key plus the
F4 key give you quick access to shutdown
your computer without rolling your mouse over to the windows button. These keys
combination is a quick access to putting off your computer when you are in hurry
to leave.
CTRL + ESC: before we move on to knowing what these
keys have for us, first, we’ll need to their full words. Ctrl stands for control, esc
stands for escape. These set of key combination produce quick access to your
computer windows button. Making it very easy for you get access to even your
computer settings and even more.
CTRL + X: the control + X keys combination enable you to cut selected/highlighted text
from or among other text. So you first highlight and press and hold the control
key then press the X key to cut out
the selected text.
CTRL + P: these set of keys pop up the print
environment, so you can print whatever document you’re working on. So instead
of moving your mouse cursor to click the file area before looking for the print
tab, you just need to press hold down the ctrl key and press P as follow.
CTRL + F: this will be the last set of key combinations
I’ll talk about in this very article. There are still more shortcut keys to
learn for better operating. So the keys combination of control + F will bring
up a small window where you find or locate any area of your typing environment.
Note: all the key combinations I talked about are tested and they’re
all working pretty fine. You can do your research to know of different keys combinations
yourself.
